In the Netherlands Peugeot advertised the 205 as a strong number and it certainly was. When Peugeot finally came up with a real successor in the form of the 206 after 15 years (the 106 and 306 were originally intended together as successors), the 205 was still quite successful. As the 25th place in this Top 50 also proves, the 1984 Car of the Year title for the 205 would have been more than justified, but there was one competitor which got even more points...
