CAR OF THE YEAR TOP 50

No. 11: Citroën XM

Cars
| 05-12-2021
BMW is currently loosening the tongues with a large SUV they call XM, but many car enthusiasts will initially think of the much more elegant design that Marc Deschamps of Bertone drew for Citroën when hearing that "name". With the aerodynamic front end, sloping roofline, short rear overhang and of course the hydropneumatic suspension, the XM fits seamlessly into the illustrious list of DS, CX (Car of the Year 1974) and C6 ('perhaps the most beautiful car ever'). The XM is the only Citroën in this Top 50. With 390 points - an average of 6.84 points per jury member - it was the convincing winner of 1990. The gap with the number 2 of that year, the Mercedes-Benz SL, was no less than 175 points.
